Traditional Construction during the Reign of Emperor Franz Joseph
The exhibition, created in collaboration between the National Technical Museum (NTM) and the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the Czech Technical University in Prague, presents the construction boom of the second half of the 19th century and the early 20th century.
The exhibition introduces visitors to the construction boom of the second half of the 19th century and the early 20th century, which was driven by the need to house people coming to cities for work. This boom reached its peak during that time in all major Czech and Moravian cities, and its manifestations significantly shaped the visual character of urban spaces. The exhibition showcases not only characteristic elements of construction techniques but also life at the end of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy through visual, sound, and interactive installations that transport visitors 100 to 150 years into the past.
